It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wes Van Velsor, President and Founder of Ray-Tech Infrared, who passed away on October 1^st, 2025 at the age of 95. Wes will be profoundly missed by the entire Ray-Tech family and by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Wes began his career in the asphalt industry in 1984 with Poweray Infrared, based in Long Island, NY. While gaining experience with the infrared process and equipment, he also owned and operated Environmental Enterprises, using the technology firsthand in the field. In 1989, he founded Ray-Tech Infrared in Claremont, NH, later relocating the company to Charlestown, NH in 1998. Over the years, Wes not only developed numerous innovative models but also helped perfect the infrared repair process, leaving a lasting mark on the industry.

Wes’s passion for the infrared process was unmatched. He relished the opportunity to teach others—not only about how to use his equipment for repairs, but also about the science behind the heating process and how different materials respond. His enthusiasm was contagious; his eyes would light up when speaking with someone new to the field, eager to share his deep knowledge and help others succeed. His lifelong dedication to understanding and improving infrared technology was truly inspiring.

Thanks to my Grandfather’s foresight and commitment to Ray-Tech’s future, a clear succession plan has been in place for years, with myself now taking on his ownership role. I’ve had the privilege of learning everything I can from him over the course of nearly 15 years as well as managing the company under his continued guidance, and I will always cherish the wisdom he shared. His mentorship, advice, and encouragement were invaluable, and while I will miss our conversations deeply, I feel confident moving forward with the foundation he built. ~ Wes Van Velsor
