Joint Heating System

Ray-Tech Infrared developed joint heater units to thermally bond newly paved joints together to create a seamless and long lasting joint. These units come in several different configurations based on the customer's desired end results:

Paver Mount Heater

The Paver Mount Heater attaches directly to either side of a paver. It consists of the heating unit, brackets and a tank rack to hold the propane cylinders. This unit by itself can increase joint density to match the density required by the authorities who govern the road being worked on. That means no more penalties for low density and possibly even job bonuses in same parts of the country. This unit is perfect for highway paving, airports and larger parking lots.

The heating system brings the already paved lane back up to a higher temperature before the second lane is laid down. This allows for a thermal bond to be made during compaction. Not only will that result in a more dense joint; it will create a seamless finish which will prevent water and dirt from entering the joint and causing it to fall apart. This works particularly well with wedge notch joints where a flatter surface can achieve a deeper penetration of the heat.

The Paver Mount Heater is very simple to operate and has an incredible return on investment!

 Preheater

The Preheater model is a stand-alone unit that can also be paired with the Paver Mount or Reflector models. The Preheater is an infrared heating unit mounted on its own frame with four swivel caster wheels and two large center wheels which allows it to track perfectly along the length of the paving job. It features a hitch on each end so that multiple Preheaters or Reflectors can be hitched together to form a Joint Heating "Train".

These units are designed to be pulled ahead of the paver to provide a blast of deep, even heating before the paver reaches the area just as the Paver Mount Heater does.

Reflector

The Reflector model is a stand-alone unit that can also be paired with the Preheater model. The Reflector consists of stainless steel reflector plates, without any heating system, mounted on its own frame with four swivel caster wheels and two large center wheels which allows it to track perfectly along the length of the paving job. It features a hitch on each end so that multiple Preheaters or Reflectors can be hitched together to form a Joint Heating "Train".

These units are designed to bounce the infrared rays, created by the Preheaters, back to the asphalt surface to prolong the heat absorption time.
